Web Master

Web Master

WebDynamic™ Web Glossary

A web master is a person responsible for maintaining a website, ranging from assuring its technical functionality to overseeing content development and design. This includes ensuring links between pages and other sites are functional, site accessibility and availability, monitoring site traffic, usage and statistics, updating pages and site architecture.

A web master coordinates site hosting and backup, access and editing and publishing rights to the backend and secured front-end of the site by other users. He or she may also be assigned responsibility for the marketing and promotion of the website, and for responding to user feedback and complaints about site functionality.

Not all websites or businesses employ a webmaster for their website, particularly small businesses. For this reason, webmaster responsibilities can be dispersed amongst staff and/or an external website firm.
