The web, a shortened term for the world wide web, is an infinite, interconnected collection of pages of information containing text, image, video and sound which can accessed via a global network - the Internet - and displayed on a computer screens through a computer program called a browser.

Referred to by its creator and inventor, Tim Berners-Lee, as an 'embodiment of human knowledge', the web can be thought of as the largest, most complex, and most globally accessible information space.

The web is a giant medium, or medium of mediums, bringing together communities and people, customers and businesses. It is used to both communicate and access information, for a range of business, social and recreational purposes.
