Bayesian Filter

Bayesian Filter

WebDynamic™ Web Glossary

A content based filter that works like an anti-spam program to evaluate header and content of incoming email messages to determine the probability that it is spam.

Unlike other filtering techniques, Bayesian filters uses the entire context of an email when scanning for words or character strings to identify the email as spam.

Bayesian filters are adaptable; the filter can train itself to identify new patterns of spam and can be adapted by the user to adjust to the user’s specific parameters for identifying spam.
