WebDynamic™ Web Glossary

To browse through a page is to follow links and see what you find, contrary to searching a page using a specific keyword. In a computer search, browsing simply means to look through various items to make a selection, such as a list of titles, names, subjects, hypertext or links.

When you browse, you have to guess which words and links on the page relate to your interests. When you search a page, you find a search box, enter a keyword or key phrase, and find all occurrences of the terms throughout the site.

Searching is usually more efficient, but often you find things by browsing that you wouldn't have had you been searching, because you might not think of the "right" term to search by.
