Consumer is any individual, group or an organization that uses the products or services provided by another individual, group or an organization. It is the consumers who make use of online shopping cart when it comes to online shopping. It is an important consideration when marketing online.

The first is the ease of the shopping cart system. One thing must be kept in mind is that not all the users using the internet are experts. In fact, most of the users are just amateurs and they cannot comprehend the intricacies of shopping cart. Hence, it is the duty of the designer to design a shopping cart that is easy to use. If the consumers cannot understand or find it difficult to use the shopping cart of your site, they will not access your site again. Then, no matter the quality of goods or services provided by you, it will not earn you much.

The ecommerce shopping cart that you design must be quick to execute. Many a times, there are too many details asked to be filled when ever a consumer purchased anything on the internet. This might be time consuming and it might frustrate the users. Many websites ask for too many things for verification and authentication. Security is of paramount importance but there should be a trade off between security and convenience. If the consumers have to waste a lot of time in using your shopping cart, it is doubtful that they will visit your site again.

Another important thing here is the cards accepted by the shopping cart of your site for an online payment. Your website should be affiliated with the cards of all the major banks. If you have access to only some of the banks, there will be consumers that have cards of other banks but cannot shop from your website. This will affect your sales drastically. Try to associate your shopping cart with as many banks as possible. If you achieve this, there are other websites that are not associated with cards from less famous banks. In this case, the consumers of those sites will get attracted to your sites automatically.

The most important factor that you must be consider while designing an online shop is the consumers’ security. There are many frauds or hackers trying to gain access to consumer’s sensitive information. If a hacker gets an access to the credit card details of a consumer, he can spell havoc for that consumer. Whenever there is a transaction using your shopping cart, ensure that you authenticate the user. It is your duty to see to it that the information submitted by the consumers remains confidential and that it is not misused. Also ensure that you provide good services to the consumers that will encourage him to visit your site again.
