Web Hosting Provider
WebDynamic™ Web Glossary
A web hosting provider is a business that provides server space, web services and file maintenance for individuals or companies that have a website, but do not have their own server.
You cannot publish a website online without a web host. So how does it actually work? Well the domain name, "www.website.com," is actually linked to an IP address that points to a specific computer. When somebody enters your domain name into their browser's address field, the IP address is located and web site is loaded from your web host.
A good web host offers a range of hosting plans, good technical support and ensures little or no downtime. Hosting services incur a monthly fee that varies depending on how much disk space and bandwidth your site will use.
Essential for Internet connectivity, web hosting providers also look after a range of other administrative, maintenance and security issues associated with the Internet and email. This includes access to email addresses, website backups, and installation of new website applications.
