Copy and paste which is also referred to as cut and paste is used in web page design to allow user interface for the transferring of text, data, images, or objects from a source to a destination. Cut and paste in web page design comes from the traditional practice in manuscript editing whereby an editor would literally cut paragraphs from a page. This web page design system supported by most document editing applications or text editors and most operating systems that allows the user to select a part of the document and then save it in a temporary buffer known as the clipboard, which is where it gets the name cut and paste. Copying a whole web page design to archive or to read later is not terribly difficult, but getting everything to copy as you see it can be a challenge. Copying the text in a web page design is a different matter.
Copy and paste from a web page design allows you to work fast between say, a text editor such as notepad or MS word, and a web document, and lets you quickly share text between both applications, without having to retype everything over and over again. You first need to highlight the text or image from the web page design that you want to copy. This is done by placing your mouse cursor at the beginning of the desired text in the web page design and while holding the left mouse button depressed, and dragging the cursor across the text. When you have the desired text highlighted from the web page design, you then copy by using the key board short cut of pressing your control key and the keyboards C key at the same time. The alternative way after highlighting the text from the web page design is to then right click your mouse, and select copy from the pop up menu.
To Paste the item that is now on your clipboard, you need to open up the program where you want the text to be. Click where you want the text positioned. From your keyboard, press ctrl and V. The alternative method for pasting after you have copied the text from the web page design is to open the destination where you want it, right click your mouse, and select paste from the pop up window.
To copy and paste the HTML tags / codes from the HTML chart below into the HTML of your web page, place your mouse pointer over the beginning of the HTML code you would like to copy. Next, click and hold your left mouse button and drag your mouse over all the HTML code you would like to copy. Your HTML code should now be highlighted. Go to Edit, Copy on your web browser's toolbar and then place your cursor within your HTML code where you would like to place the code. Right click on your mouse and go to Paste. Your HTML code should now be displaying within your HTML document.
